Fucking amazing. Read the link to the more lady-like Guardian revue.But keep in mind the exhibition is spectacle enhanced by science, lighting, weird bits of birds and sea shells and movie music like Handel\u2019s Sarabande (Suite No 4 in D Minor, HWV 437), which was the theme for Stanley Kubrick\u2019s movie Barry Lyndon. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/artanddesign\/2015\/mar\/12\/alexander-mcqueen-grab-attendees-v-and-a-victoria-albert\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"clear\">MUSEUM OF DESIGN AND TEXTILES<\/h3>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"20%\" class=\"alignleft\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Attended:<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cCouture Techniques workshop at the Design and Textile Museum. Led by Zandra Rhode\u2019s dress maker Jolanta Cerniauskiene, this popular workshop will give you the know-how and confidence to work with high end fabrics such as chiffon and silk satin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"20%\" class=\"alignleft\" \/><br \/>\nFive pieces of silk.  Proof I can now make a pin seam, a French seam, a coat buttonhole, satin cording, ruffles with fishing line and I can sew bias pieces of silk chiffon and satin together. You try doing that.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"clear\">The Courtauld<\/h3>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignright\" width=\"30%\"\/><br \/>\nLove Goya. No other way to say it.  An exhibition of drawings from Goya\u2019s Witches and Old Women Album &#8211;made in his last 10 years, and meant to be seen by only a few close friends. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Suggestions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Film:<\/strong> &#8220;Goya in Bordeaux,&#8221; written and directed by Carlos Saura <\/li>\n<li><strong>DVD:<\/strong>  \u201cGoya: Crazy Like a Genius\u201d presented by Robert Hughes<\/li>\n<li><strong>Book:<\/strong> \u201cGoya\u201d by Robert Hughes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Courtauld bonus:<\/strong><br \/>\n2 other exhibitions at Somerset House<br \/>\nInvitation Strictly Personal Fashion Show Ephemera such as invites to famous people from famous people.  As interesting as People Magazine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Beard:<\/strong> photos \u201cMr. Elbank started up #Project60 by photographing 60 people with beards \u2026 reached an international audience by seeding them on social networking sites.\u201d The hit of the show is the photo of a real bearded woman.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Notes on my daily London life:<\/h3>\n<p>Laughs, wine and pre-prepared food every night so no need to cook, or sit up straight.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"40%\"\/><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"40%\"\/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"clear\">Victoria and Albert museum (again)<\/h3>\n<p>&#8216;Wedding Dresses: 1775-2014&#8217;<br \/>\nI was caught taking photos \u2013 frilly &#038; flowery bits are on the side of one dress, too long and impossible to move in pleats on another, and Love the Hat.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"30%\"\/><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"30%\"\/><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"30%\"\/><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"clear\">National Portrait Gallery:<\/h3>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-11.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"alignleft\" \/><strong>Sargent Portraits of Artists &#038; Friends<\/strong><br \/>\nHere\u2019s one of John Singer Sargent friends \u2013 Dr. Pozzi at Home 1881.  Or as I call it: \u201cSmug Guy Looking for Trouble\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch in the Galleries\u2019 restaurant overlooking nearby London roofs and then a swift zoom around the portraits. Sometimes you have to pace yourself if you\u2019re ever going to do another museum.  And how long can you sustain your interest in Bloomsbury and Virginia Woolf?<\/p>\n<p>Visit to Sally who was visiting her cousin and husband, and 2 dogs, in their new flat\/loft overlooking the Thames.  Took 3 cupcakes slathered in white chocolate with 2 of the best ever tiny butter cookies as bunny ears.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>Royal Academy of Arts:<\/h3>\n<p>Rubens and His Legacy \u2013 Boring. There, I\u2019ve said it. Maybe I was just tired and was overwhelmed by the flesh.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Diebenkorn \u2013 absolutely not boring.  Amazing abstracts.  I don\u2019t know why the painting of the knife and glass is so, well, charismatic \u2013 kept going back to it.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-13.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"40%\"\/><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-14.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"40%\"\/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tate Modern<\/strong> \u2013 all with Chloe before lunch with her intended, Oli. <\/p>\n<p>Chloe does Face Book \u201cSunday Tate wanders with BB\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/barbaraboyden.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/london-15.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Examined in detail:  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/whats-on\/tate-modern\/display\/louise-bourgeois-works-on-paper\/wall-text-0\" target=\"_blank\">Annette Messenger\u2019s installation wall<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/whats-on\/tate-modern\/display\/louise-bourgeois-works-on-paper\" target=\"_blank\">Louise Bourgeous Works on Paper<\/a> (inspiring). <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/art\/search?wv=grid&#038;wn=20&#038;wp=1&#038;ap=1&#038;ws=pop&#038;sid=4281&#038;type=artwork\" target=\"_blank\">Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Niki de Saint Phalle<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/search\/Niki%20de%20Saint%20Phalle%20on%20exhibit%20currently\" target=\"_blank\">Link<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>And Cy Twombly<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tate.org.uk\/whats-on\/tate-modern\/display\/cy-twombly\" target=\"_blank\">Link<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Tate Britain<\/h3>\n<p>Salt &#038; Silver (early, really early, photography), Turner (got lost), Rossetti et al, and one painting caused me to wonder if I\u2019d seen too much and was loosing my mind or sight, or something. Two ladies sitting in a painting appeared to be alive \u2013 enough that I did a double take. Turns out the painting has been recently cleaned, or \u201cconserved\u201d.
